GRAPHIC DESIGN & BRANDING
The Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) is an independent, non-partisan research institute established in 2014 by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). These centres exist in other Australian universities, however, ACRI is Australia's first and only research institute devoted to studying the relationship of these countries.
Following UTS' comprehensive publications guidelines, I worked to bring Bob Carr and Professor James Laurenceson's vision for the two documents to life.
ACRI were pleased with the final design of both publications, as was the UTS Publications Department with how well they followed their guidelines.
Image Sourcing
Given the text heavy and non-visual nature of the topic, relevant images were needed to create some visual interest and section the document.
Cover Design
Design and image editing of supplied colour portait. Playing with depth by overlaying the photography with graphics.
Research Reports
Embracing the UTS style guide UTS, I designed a look and palette that was striking and shared cultural signifigance with the subject whilst avoiding the usual clichés.

Newspaper Clippings
Making features of the newspaper clippings for each relevant section helped the reader navigate each chapter.
Theme Continuity
The 'Do the claims stack up? Australia talks China' research report examines the way the media covers our relationship. The document heavily cites newspaper articles, and we wanted to reiterate visually.
Colour Palette
Having some fun with the topic and playing in the bold colour palette at the same time.
